Being involved in the organizing of an estate after the passing of a loved one is often an emotionally draining and stressful task.
Even during an elderly person's move to assisted living, there is so much to consider in terms of dealing with a lifetime of possessions.
What to keep? What to give to certain family members? What to donate/sell/dispose of?
I can help ease the workload associated with clearing out an estate. I will work closely with the executor of the will, lawyer, and family as needed to ensure willed items are located and delivered to the correct descendant(s).
I can catalogue all belongings, send electronic lists and photos to out-of-town parties, and display them at the estate for those able to view in person.
Once the personal effects willed to and/or desired by family and friends are dealt with, I can coordinate efforts to clear the rest of the belongings. This may entail an estate sale or auction, donations, dump runs, and more.
I can also work with the current owners of an estate to make a plan in advance for "lightening the load" for those you will leave behind - by assisting you with getting rid of unneeded items now.
Estate clearing can take weeks or even months and requires patience, perseverance and the ability to coordinate with many people involved.
Rates for estate clearing jobs will vary, depending on the size of the property and the amount of belongings.
See my rates page for my standard hourly rate and packages. Those can be used as a guideline.
If the sale of possessions is required, a 25% commission on sales will be collected. (Client receives 75% of sale price per item)
